How to Apply for TRIO Scholars
The online application consists of general information questions, short-response questions, income tax information questions, and academic history requests. Below are the documents you will need to complete your TRIO Scholars application:
- 2023 Income Tax Information: All students must submit 2023 income tax information. If a parent/guardian claimed you as a dependent on their 2023 taxes, please use their tax information to complete the application. If you are an independent and submitted your own 2023 taxes, please use your tax information to complete the application. If you or a parent/guardian did not submit 2023 taxes, please select that option on the application.
- Unofficial Transcripts: All students (first-year students, returning students, and community college transfer students) must submit a digital copy of their high school transcripts. All transfer students must also submit a copy of their community college transcripts. We understand, it may be difficult to obtain an unofficial transcript so we will also be accepting other forms of records that document your coursework and grades (ex. Official transcripts, screenshots of final grades from your online portal, etc.). If you are unable to submit any documentation of your high school or community college grades, please indicate that in the application. Your application will still be processed but we will only be able to review the information provided in your application and supporting documents.
Interviews will be extended to applicants on a case-by-case basis to allow TRIO Scholars staff a chance to follow up with any additional questions.
If you have questions about the application process, contact us or visit our Frequently Asked Questions page.
Waitlist
If there are not sufficient spots, eligible students may be put on a waitlist. Offers will be made to waitlisted students as spots become available throughout the year. Waitlisted students must accept or decline the offer within 72 hours.
